Restaurant in Havre de Grace, Maryland - Silks at Bulle Rock

BALTIMORE - It has already become a rather popular recipe at ABC2. Why not make it a favorite for your family this holiday season.

Friday on Good Morning Maryland @ 9's "Time 2 Dine" series, Chef Mark Laubner introduced us to his version of french toast: Creme Brulee French Toast. Sure, some of the ingredients will look familiar, but you will be surprised at several twists that will have your family drooling and craving for me.

Restaurant in Havre de Grace, Maryland - Silks at Bulle Rock

We will soon get the video of the segment attached to this story. But if you are looking for the recipe, we included below for you to try:

Creme Brulee French Toast

1-stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
1-cup packed brown sugar
2-tablespoons corn syrup
1-loaf French bread or challah loaf
5-large eggs
1½ -cups half-and-half
1-teaspoon vanilla
1-teaspoon Grand Marnier
¼- teaspoon salt

1. In a small heavy saucepan melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring, until smooth.

2. Pour into a 13- by 9- by 2-inch baking dish.

3. Cut six 1-inch thick slices from center portion of bread, reserving ends for another use.

4. Arrange bread slices in one layer in baking dish, squeezing them slightly to fit.

5. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt until combined well. Pour evenly over bread.

6. Chill bread mixture covered for at least 1 hour and up to 1 day.

7. Preheat oven to 350° F. and bring bread to room temperature.

8. Bake bread mixture, uncovered, in middle of oven until puffed and edges are pale golden, 35 to 40 minutes.

This is the absolute best item to make on busy holiday mornings. It is prepared the night before and the next day you just pop it in the oven for a easy crowd pleaser.
